Blended First Aid at Work Course Aim

Blended courses offer the option of learning the theory content on-line then only requiring the practical aspect of the course to be delivered in a ‘classroom’ environment – this style of learning suits some people and organisations as time ‘off the job’ may be reduced as the practical element is 2 days. The on-line element must be completed within 7 weeks and prior to the practical session. After we receive the candidates individual email addresses we will send a link to a eLearning portal where we are able to monitor the progress and produce management reports as required.

The course content is the same as the traditional 3 day face-to-face, classroom style course as detailed below – asterisk’s indicate the practical elements, but tutors may confirm learning in other subject areas.

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, state that all employers must assess the need and supply appropriate first aid provision. Although anyone can be ‘appointed’ – will they have the knowledge to effectively – this Emergency First Aid at Work, or EFA course will hep candidates:

Prevent injuries becoming worse, Promote recovery, Preserve life?

Aim of First Aid Training Course

This in-depth First Aid at Work course deals with more serious and multiple injuries, going into greater detail of first aid with more time for discussion and practice. Aimed at the individuals who may have overall charge of First Aid or for individuals within large companies or companies with potentially hazardous working environments.

First Aid Training Course Objectives

The course is based on group work with a lot of practical activity, enhancing the learning of the skills required in a fun but formal way. The course will cover:

• The Law relating to First Aid
• Recovery Position*
• Asthma and Hyperventilation
• Angina, Heart Attack, Cardiac Arrest*
• Breaks, Amputations & Dislocations
• Burns
• Epilepsy and Diabetes
• Communication & Delegation
• Artificial Ventilation’s,  CPR and use of AED*
• Choking*
• Major & Minor Bleeding*
• Head Injuries*
• Poisoning
• Shock*

Practical delivery is over 2 days and achieved by successfully completing an examination and individual practical assessment. Each candidate receives a full colour quick reference guide. This course can be held on consecutive days, weeks or split to suite your business needs.

Annual Update Training – ½ day

Latest legislation states although it is ‘Highly Recommend’ that candidates renew their qualification annually, it is not a legal requirement – however the law does state that it is an employers responsibility to ensure that First Aiders remain ‘Competent’ within their role as a First Aider. The question is: ‘if no retraining is done within the 3 years, how can someone be ‘competent” and therefore the employer is liable. A cost effect way is to re-train on an intensive ½ day course – why not have another course delivered in the afternoon session i.e. DeFib training and save money? Again achievement is by successfully competing an examination and individual practical assessment, resulting in a new certificate valid for another year.

As well as self approval, The Training Co. is registered with
